Dashers fall to the Thunderbirds

Danville, IL - The Danville Dashers fall for the first time this season to the Carolina Thunderbirds by a final score of 5-2. 

Carolina would strike first and often the opening frame tallying three goals in the first 20 minutes of play. Petr Panacek would start the scoring off at the 1:59 mark, 8 minutes later Everett Thompson would light the lamp with assists from Joe Cangelosi and Peter Cicmanec. Arthur Drindrozhik capped off the scoring in the 1st with a goal at 12:51. Danville would get the only powerplay of the period as Chase Fallis would get called for Delay of Game but the Dashers were unable to capitalize. 

Daniel Martin would get the Dashers on the board in the second period with his 6th goal of the season at the 8:32 mark getting assists from Gaul and Marker. Carolina would answer just 36 seconds later as the captain Josh Pietrantonio would get the three goal lead back assisted by Salak and Pargac. Salak would get his own at 17:05 to give the T-birds a 5-1 lead. Both teams played a clean period as both squads were not called for any infractions.

Justin Brausen would score the only goal in the third period with 1:30 left in the game. Danville and Carolina would both go 0-1 on the man advantage in the third period. 

Aaron Taylor got the start in net for coach Paul MacLean, he would make 50 saves on 55 shots while Frankie McClendon would only face 21 shots making 19 saves. Danville would go 0-2 on the man advantage while Carolina was 0-1. 

Both teams are back in action tomorrow night at 5:05 ct. as the Dashers will go for the split and look to improve to 5-1 on the season.
