Game Preview 11/17

The Dashers (4-1-0-1, 11 pts, .778 PCT) look to continue their perfect stretch of home hockey as they welcome in the defending Commissioner's Cup Champion Watertown Wolves (3-1-0-1; 11 pts, .733 PCT). Danville is a perfect 4-0 this season at home and have outscored their opponents 23-7 in that time frame.

Danville is coming off a split weekend with the Carolina Thunderbirds. Losing game one by a final score of 5-2 and taking game two 2-1. Danville currently sits in second place behind Carolina who is on the road this weekend to take on the Enforcers. 

 Danville will look different this weekend as coach MacLean made several roster moves. Ricky Green was released earlier this week, Preston Kugler returns to Danville after appearing in three games with the Evansville Thunderbolts (SPHL). Matt Kaludis was called up the Knoxville Ice Bears (SPHL) and goaltender Blake Scott has signed a PTO and will the back up behind Aaron Taylor this weekend. 

 The Dashers come into the weekend with the second best PP which is 4 for 19 (.211%) and the second best PK which is 26 for 28 (.929%). The Dashers do lead the league with four shorthanded goals; Marker, Martin, Gaul and Little. Watertown is just below the Dashers in each category as they are 5 for 25 (.200%) on the PP and are 24 for 27 (.889%) on the PK. Watertown has yet to score short handed as well as scoring one of their own. 

 Tonight’s game will be the first of 10 meeting between the two teams. These two teams will match up again on Thanksgiving weekend in Watertown.

 The Wolves come into this contest on a three game winning streak having swept Mentor and defeating Port Huron in overtime. During that stretch of play the Wolves have outscored their opponents 19-11. A few familiar faces will be returning to Danville as Aleh Shypitsyn and Christian Whitcomb will be on the roster for Watertown.
